Teaching Experience
I have extensive teaching experience, in university, middle school, and elementary settings. Most recently I served as the co-instructor for CSci 1001, Overview of Computer Science, at the University of Minnesota during Spring 2010. This course is designed for non-majors and student contemplating the computer science major. We taught everything from algorithms and basic Python, to Human Computer Interaction and Databases. While all of the instruction is introductory, students leave the class with a high level overview of the possibilities available in computer science. I co-taught with Dr. Phil Barry.I have also served as a TA at the University of Minnesota for four semesters (freshmen through graduate classes) and at Berea College for five semesters. I've spent six weeks working with middle schoolers at science and technology camps as well as seven weeks at an overnight camp working with nine-year-olds and three years tutoring elementary school math.
